Ruby-crowned Kinglet

The ruby-crowned kinglet is a tiny bird that can be seen at Magee Marsh during the second half of April and the first half of May.  The bird is fairly drab all over, with the most distinguishing feature being its small size, since it's smaller than most other warblers and vireos.  It spends more time flying and hovering, rather than hopping from branch to branch like other foraging warblers.  The ruby crown is usually difficult or impossible to see.  The wing bars and overall shape (more compact and round than most warblers) can help with identification of this bird.
