Golden-winged Warbler

The golden-winged warbler is a highly sought rarity at Magee Marsh.  The bird has a yellow forehead and wing patch, and a black or gray face mask; mature males also have a black throat (not shown in the images below).  The yellow-rumped warbler, by contrast, has no black throat patch, and has yellow in its armpit rather than on the actual wings.  The best chance of seeing a golden-winged warbler at Magee is during the first three weeks of May, particularly the second week.
